A Sand cat is not the kind of cat that you want to keep in your home. In fact, he is not a type of domesticated cat at all. Sand cats are wild animals that live in deserts. There are six subspecies of the Sand cat or felis margarita: felis margarita margarita, which is the Sahara Sand Cat; felis margarita airensis; felis margarita harrisoni, which is the Arabian Sand cat; felis margarita meinertzhageni; felis margarita thinobia, which is the Iranian Sand Cat; and felis margarita scheffeli, which is the Pakistan Sand cat.

He is about 50 cm from head to tail, with his tail being about 30 cm in length.

Other Sand cat facts include their ability to live in these desert areas and survive without actually drinking water. Sand cat adaptations have allowed him to get enough water from the lizards, rodents and bugs that he eats. The behavior of the Sand cat is nocturnal. He hides at night and hide under rocks or in other shaded places at night. The Sand cat is a very resourceful creature to be able to sustain himself in the desert regions of the world. In order to protect his delicate skin from the hot desert sand, the Sand cat has long hairs on his feet that help shield them from the heat of the sand.

The Sand Cat: What Is Being Done?

Unlike many other species, the Sand cat is really not in any danger of extinction at this time. It is true that many species are losing their habitats to development and deforestation. However, the Sand cat lives in a climate that is not suitable for human habitation. This prevents serious encroaching of human habitats on the Sand cat’s habitat.
