Cartoon cats have for years been an entertainment for children and adults alike. In fact, a cat cartoon has sometimes been the reason why some people adopt cats. Cat cartoons can be anything from daily comic strips in the newspaper to Saturday morning TV shows.
The most famous cartoon cat of all is Garfield. As far as cartoon cats and dogs go, there is no more famous paring than Garfield and Odie. And for cartoon kittens, none are more adorable or annoying than Nermal, Garfield’s cartoon kitten and nemesis. There is also Arlene, who is Garfield’s girlfriend. Garfield has been the top cat cartoon for years, and there are many Garfield comic books and TV shows to prove this.
Other famous cartoon cats are more geared towards adults. The Bill the Cat cartoon of Bloom County fame is a very popular cartoon featuring cats. Cartoon creators often add cats as cynical or stupid characters in their comic strips.
There are few members of the kitten cartoon category. There are some, but most stars of a cat cartoon are adult cats. Cute cat cartoons are popular, though, especially in books and calendars. Cat cartoon calendars are available with many different funny comics and cartoons. A cartoon black cat or white cat can often be discussing something pressing like politics with a person in a cat cartoon. That is why so many people enjoy cat cartoons.
There are other famous cat cartoons. One popular cat cartoon character is Bucky, the Siamese cat in Get Fuzzy a newer and quite famous cartoon about pets. Bucky is the ridiculous comic relief and is not very bright. Fans of the Dilbert comic may recognize Catbert, the sidekick of Dilbert. There are two cats mentioned in Alice in Wonderland: the Cheshire cat who provokes Alice with riddles on her visit to Wonderland, and her pet cat Dinah. There are also cat cartoons that are not housecats. Hobbes, the stuffed tiger in the cartoon Calvin and Hobbes, comes alive in Calvin’s imagination and encourages Calvin to be mischievous. Simba is the leading role in the movie and musical The Lion King. Nala is Simba’s wife in the movie. There is another major donation of cat cartoons from Disney; this is the movie The Aristocats, a film about a mother cat and her three kittens who are kidnapped and who “adopt” a father figure in a tom cat named Thomas O’Malley.
