If you cat has a cat disease, he may not show very many initial signs of being sick. Cat diseases often are hard to spot since people cannot be privy to all of the symptoms. Cat Lyme disease, liver disease in cats, a cat eye disease, kidney disease in cats or a cat’s mouth disease all have different symptoms that cannot readily be seen in a cat. The basic symptoms must be noted by a very astute owner.
Any cat disease, heart in or cat liver disease can only be discovered by blood tests. Only veterinarians can do these tests, so it is very important that you take your cat to the vet when you notice a problem. Cat disease can be caused by a number of factors. The problem is that diseases in cats cannot really be seen. You must be very familiar with your cat’s behavior to know whether or not your cat is sick.
Since a cat cannot tell you that he has a stuffy nose or that he feels like he has a fever, you must touch and be around you cat regularly. When you know his behavior patterns, you will be able to identify if something is wrong. More obvious symptoms of cat diseases are vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst, lack of appetite, frequent urination, fever, coughing, sneezing and lethargy. Keep in mind that having only one of these symptoms does not necessarily mean that your cat is sick. But if he is showing more than one symptom, then chances are good that he is ill.
Cat claw disease or Lyme disease is a problem for outdoor cats. Cat claw Lyme disease is caused by ticks. Lyme disease in a cat can usually be cured, but you have to catch it in time. Check your outdoor cats for ticks and fleas regularly.
There has always been a lot of talk about cat scratch disease. Cat scratch fever is basically a myth. A cat scratch can cause some skin irritation, and it can even get infected if not cleaned properly. However, any cat scratch or bite will not cause a fever and death. If a cat bite or scratch gets infected, go to your doctor and have him inspect the wound. Most likely he will clean it and give you antibiotics for the infection. The infection can be prevented by cleaning and disinfecting any bite or scratch you may get from your cat.
